LA MBA Meetup Members:

A few weeks ago I emailed you regarding the start of an April 2010 GMAT Workshop.  Since beginning this GMAT April Workshop, I have been continually impressed by the group's efforts in and out of the classroom.  Sitting down with each attendee I have been able to gain an appreciation for their GMAT strengths and weaknesses while working to address them.  In a few short weeks, we have come a long way.
Based on the success of the April GMAT Workshop, I have launched a July 2010 LA GMAT Workshop.

I invite you to attend this upcoming Workshop to be held in Santa Monica.

Pre-registration is now open:
The July Workshop starts on July 11th (Sunday) and will run for 10 Sunday sessions over 12 weeks.  This includes 2 planned breaks for Office Hours and make-ups.
  • Attendees would use the Manhattan GMAT books (and my own in-class material), be held once at week at Coloft in Santa Monica and would last 3 hours per session.
  • There are two break weekends scheduled during the Workshop for catching up.  This is the opportunity for anyone who misses a session to meet with me for a make-up.
  • The sessions would also have a good amount of MBA application related discussion which would be secondary to the GMAT material.  When I taught GMAT at Kaplan I used to get a lot of questions about the whole application process, so my goal is to be as holistic as possible.
  • As always, this July Workshop is limited to 15 attendees or fewer.

Cost:

  • Flat $500 for the Workshop + the cost of the Manhattan GMAT books and Official Guide to the GMAT.
  • Discount: $100 off of the $500 for anyone who has taken a previous GMAT course.  All I need to see is a receipt.
Materials Required:
Why this GMAT Workshop is better than other GMAT prep courses, classes, workshops, seminars, etc:
  • Small number of attendees: each Workshop is limited to 15 attendees or fewer (this is a sentence correction rule by the way).
  • I want to keep each session as small as possible so that everyone gets as much attention as possible.  Everyone in the Workshop gets to know each other and gain a truer sense of 'we are in this together.'  Additionally, I was a former instructor at Kaplan and when it gets past 20 students, both student and instructor suffer.
  • Flexibility through Office Hours: I know a lot of attendees will be out of the office for vacations or travel.  These Office Hours allow for anyone to make up a missed class or address an area of weakness.
  • Individualized and tactical study plans:  We discuss individual GMAT CAT results to dial in individual weaknesses in order to bring your score up. At the end of the Workshop, you will walk away with a 4 to 8 week study plan (based on your weaknesses), so that you will know what to study while preparing for the big day.
  • This is in addition to the day by day plan you have for homework.  Everything is broken down on a daily basis so that you know exactly what you should be doing in between each Workshop session.
  • Materials: I have worked for 2 major GMAT companies (Veritas Prep and Kaplan) and gained an appreciation for their respective teaching styles.  I am not married to any one school of thought, but have developed my own, and this has allowed for the introduction of teaching concepts in order to expose attendees to a greater perspective.  While each have their strengths and weaknesses, I have picked what I thought to be the best material for you (for outside of the Workshop) and then added to it with our in-workshop discussions of the GMAT.  Full disclosure: I do not represent Manhattan GMAT, this is not a Manhattan GMAT class, nor do I have any business or personal relationship with them.
  • Member for life: Everyone has their GMAT strengths and weaknesses.  After you complete the Workshop, each attendee is welcome to come back to any future Workshop session or show up to Office Hours in order to address any verbal or quant issues.  All you have to do is email me and let me know you are coming, so that I can make seating accommodation.
Please spread the word to any of your colleagues.
  • Additionally, please ask any of the current attendees how they like the GMAT Workshop.  If you need contact emails, I can provide.
Thanks,
Paul
